Remember when you were 16, learning to drive without hitting anything? This is also the average age most people develop their drinking habits. A large reason many teenagers start drinking is because it is easily accessible and they lack guidance. They get good at hiding it. Talking with your children can help lead many of them away from addiction in later life. Better Health promotes ways to help the stop of teenagers drinking.

The risk of relapse is the highest in the first year after recovery. Roughly 30% of people will relapse during that time, and 70% will relapse after then. The longer someone stays sober, the lower the risk rate of relapse. One important thing to learn in recovery that can help lead away from addiction is identifying the triggers, the thoughts and the cravings that lead to a usage. The Recovery Village offers more statistics for stages in the recovery journey.

Even though it seems like there is always a chance for help, many people still will not seek out help on their own. Roughly 76% of addicts will never receive treatment in their lifetime. One of the biggest reasons is the financial strain it can have on someone. Donations can help lighten this burden. Read here for why donations are important to one’s recovery journey.
